Accuracy in legal documentation is essential and the potential consequences of a poor-quality translation don’t bear thinking about.

At Wessex Translations, we understand what’s at stake. We appreciate that legal translation is as much about understanding the concepts of two or more different legal systems as it is about language skills and knowledge of complex legal terminology.

Our translators are experienced legal specialists, with backgrounds in, for example, company and contract law, European legislation, intellectual property, international trade, litigation, maritime law and witness statements. They all work into their mother tongue and are familiar with the appropriate legislation in the countries concerned.

Our translations are always carried out by the most skilled translators and carefully revised by our quality control team. We invest in the latest Translation Memory Management (TMM) tools in order to save and reuse these high-quality human translations efficiently, enabling us to better meet our clients’ demands in terms of quantity, speed and price.

TMM (not to be confused with machine translation such as Google Translate) is able to identify any content that we have previously translated or that is repeated within the same document, which can significantly improve efficiency on large repetitive documents or regularly updated content. It also helps us to maintain consistency in style and terminology and offer reduced translation costs to our clients.
